The new conference format will give the IOCongress the necessary flexibility to deal with current and emerging global events, will reduce the carbon footprint, and provide all ornithologists on the planet with the opportunity to present their work and hear about the world’s best ornithology regardless of their career stage and limitations of location, cost, and time.

IOU Members
IOU Member Rates: Current 2021 IOU members are eligible for a discounted rate on registration.
We encourage you renew or join the IOU for an annual membership fee and benefit from all our membership services.
If your membership has lapsed and you select this rate in error, we will change your registration category to ‘Non-Member’ and ask that you pay the difference.

High Income/ Middle and Low Income Countries
The IOU has categorized the registration fees in accordance with the World Bank economic income categorization. This is to address the financial inequalities and ensure that as many interested ornithologist from around the world are able to join.

Student Rates
Students currently pursuing a degree at the Undergraduate, Graduate or PhD level are eligible for discounted rates. You will be required to present valid identification from your academic institution with registration.
Student Funding/Grants is available, applications and motivation will be required. Further information about applications for student funding will be avaible at a later date.
Accompanying Partners
We welcome the company of partners during our Conference! Opening and Closing ceremony, all afternoon plenary sessions in the programme and welcome social event are included.

Group Registrations
Kinldy note that there are no discounted rates for group bookings. However there is still the option to register a group of up to 10 individuals with one consolidated invoice. Further instructions and information is available through the registration portal.

*Please note: Early-bird rates are only applicable for attendees who register and pay in full prior to . An attendee who registers prior to the cut-off date without completing payment will automatically be charged the higher registration fee.

Additional Information
Presenter registration
Please note that any accepted conference contribution must be accompanied by a pre-recorded video podcast of the presentation, made available two weeks before the start of the conference, should a pre-recording must be submitted, you will be subject to a surcharge of $50 on registration at the physical conference or logging into the virtual conference.
All accepted presenters must register and pay when submitting an abstract.
Abstract submission closes 25 February 2022
Presenters not registered by this date will be excluded from the conference program and will not have their abstract(s) published in the book of abstracts.
Printed Programme Booklet
An electronic printable programme is included on in the registration fees, however a printed hard copy of the full programme will be available at an additional cost.

Payment Options
Credit cards are our preferred method of payment; however we can also accept registration payments by EFT (electronic fund transfer)/Bank Transfer. If you select EFT/Bank Transfer as your method of payment, we will email you an invoice with the conference banking details and the payment amount in South African Rands (ZAR). Your registration will remain pending until we receive the payment and proof of payment to be emailed to the congress conveners.
