We encourage you to renew or join the IOU for an annual membership fee and benefit from all our membership services.

High Income/ Middle and Low Income Countries

The IOU has categorized the registration fees in accordance with the World Bank economic income categorization. This is to address the financial inequalities and ensure that as many interested ornithologist from around the world are able to join.

Please take into account the World Bank country categorisation based on the country that you are  currently residing in, working or studying.  The World Bank country categorisation should not be applied to the country of your birth or origin as this will unfortunately not support the proactive approach intended by the IOU organising committee.

Student Rates

Students currently pursuing a degree at the Undergraduate, Graduate or PhD level are eligible for discounted rates. You will be required to present valid identification from your academic institution with registration.

Student Funding/Grants is available, applications and motivation will be required. Further information about applications for student funding will be available at a later date.

Full costs of virtual attendance for the conference will be covered for 75 students (Masters or PhD) or early career researchers (within 3 years of their PhD) based in low income countries. 
You must first have a contribution to the IOCongress accepted (either virtual poster or talk). Please email Will Cresswell (wrlc@st-and.ac.uk), Chair of the Scientific Program Committee when your contribution has been accepted to apply. Sponsorship will be given to the first 75 applicants.

Presenter registration

Please note that any accepted conference contribution must be accompanied by a pre-recorded video podcast of the presentation, made available two weeks before the start of the conference.  Should a pre-recording not be submitted, you will be subject to a surcharge of $50 on registration at the physical conference or logging into the virtual conference.

All accepted presenters must register and pay when submitting an abstract.

Abstract submission closes 25 March 2022

Please note that any acceptance of a contribution to the conference program is provisional until registration has been fully paid by the deadline of 25th March 2022. Participants that do not pay registration will not be able to participate in the conference.

Presenters not registered by this date will be excluded from the conference program and will not have their abstract(s) published in the book of abstracts.

The scientific committee and organisers appreciate that for some presenters registration fees will only be covered by their institutions if abstracts have been accepted. We therefore are accommodating this by extending the registration and payment date.

To avoid any disappointment we strongly suggest that you registration and make payment arrangements or communicate with the organisers prior to the 25th March 2022.

Printed Programme Booklet

An electronic printable programme is included in the registration fees.

Payment Options

Credit cards are our preferred method of payment; however we can also accept registration payments by EFT (electronic fund transfer)/Bank Transfer. If you select EFT/Bank Transfer as your method of payment, we will email you an invoice with the conference banking details and the payment amount in South African Rands (ZAR). Your registration will remain pending until we receive the payment and proof of payment to be emailed to the congress conveners.

Virtual Registration Fee includes:

• Virtual participation of all plenary and concurrent session presented via the virtual platform
• Access to the virtual platform and access to the post congress recordings of the full congress programme.
• Access to and participation to all poster presentations via the virtual platform during the congress
